Locating Your Browser's Developer Console

The instructions below will allow you to locate your browser's developer console.

Google Chrome

In Google Chrome, use the following shortcuts to access the browser console:

  • Mac Users: Option + + J
  • Windows/Linux Users: Shift + CTRL + J

Alternately, to manually access the browser console:

1. Click the three stacked dots (top right corner) to access the Chrome Menu.

2. Select 'More Tools.'

3. Select 'Developer Tools':

This will load the 'Developer tools' menu in either the right side of the existing Chrome window, or in a new window. Please note: you may need to click to select the 'Console' tab: 

 

Mozilla Firefox

In Mozilla Firefox, use the following shortcuts to access the browser console:

  • Mac Users: Shift +  + J
  • Windows/Linux Users: Shift + CTRL + J

Alternately, to manually access the browser console:

1. Click the three stacked lines (top right corner) to access the Firefox Menu.

2. Select 'More Tools.'

3. Select 'Browser Console':

     

This will load the browser console in a new window:

 

Safari

In Safari, use the following shortcut to access the browser console:

  • Option +  + C 

Alternately, to manually access the browser console:

1. First enable the 'Developer Menu' by accessing the Safari Menu > 'Preferences':

2. Select 'Advanced,' then check the option to 'Show Develop menu in menu bar':

3. After enabling the 'Developer Menu,' access the developer console by selecting 'Develop' > 'Show Javascript Console':

The console will open within the existing Safari window, or in a new window:
