Grading Written Assignments with eClipz Commenting Tool

eClipz assignments (formerly known as Acclaim) are those assignments which require students to post time-stamped comments in response to a video. Based on how these assignments have been configured, eClipz assignments will need to be graded differently from other standard assignments in your course.

Grading Written Assignments From the Gradebook:

  1. Access your gradebook from the menu bar above your course home page. This will load the standard gradebook report, which displays all student submissions that require grading.
  2. To begin grading, click 'Grade Me' in the 'Needs Grading' column next to a student's name, or select the checklist icon to the left of the 'Needs Grading' column. This will display all of this student's grades and submissions.
  3. Click the orange pencil icon to access this student's ungraded assignment submission.
  4. Students' comments will be listed to the right of the video. You can respond to individual comments by clicking the blue 'Reply' option at the bottom of each comment box.
  5. Enter a Grade in the 'Grade out of …' field and any additional comments you would like to provide to the student in the 'Feedback comments' text box.
  6. To allow another attempt, select 'Yes' from the 'Allow another attempt' dropdown.
  7. Click 'Save changes.'

Grading Written Assignments From the Assignment Page:

  1. Access the eClipz-based assignment you would like to grade from your course home page.
  2. Click the 'View/grade all submissions' link at the bottom of the page. This will take you to the assignment’s submissions table, which displays:
    • a list of all students who have submitted the assignment
    • a summary of submission details (such as the date and time of submission)
    • any text written in the assignment text box
    • any uploaded files (when available)
    • any comments included with student submissions
    • instructor comments
  3. When you are ready to review students' eClipz comments and enter grades, click the 'Grade' button to the right of the desired student. (You can also select 'Grade' from the dropdown menu in the 'Edit' Column).
